Hana Floral: 8,000 miles east of Kansas is where I consider my home. It's the city of Yokosuka, Japan, once where my father was based in the navy and where my sister and I were raised. My mother, Sachiko, was raised on one of the southern islands of Japan called Shikoku and was a very skillful artist. She was an animator for a short time and then began painting using both mediums as water color and oil. Today, I attribute much of my design talent to my mother. Her attention to detail and talent with a pencil and paint brush has influenced my florals and design work to this day.
